KidsFirst’s “End Child Abuse” Mission Under New Leadership
Board of Directors Announces New Chief Executive Officer

(Roseville, CA- April 2, 2010) After an extensive executive search, the KidsFirst Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Lynda Gregory as Chief Executive Officer.

A graduate of UC Davis and Lincoln Law School, Lynda has guided complex operations for 15 years having served most recently as COO of the Foundation for California Community Colleges. Prior to that Lynda led the functions of Volunteer Services and Human Resources as Vice President at Catholic Healthcare West’s Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento.

Lynda’s management expertise and passion will enhance KidsFirst’s well-known leadership role in child advocacy, abuse prevention and in changing lives of those affected in the Sierra-Sacramento Region. The KidsFirst vision—all children live in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment— is at the heart of each decision undertaken by the KidsFirst Board and staff. ”I am privileged to be a part of such a wonderful organization made up of dedicated people in preventing child abuse. What nobler cause could there be? KidsFirst has done magnificent work in the past. We look forward to expanding our services to further improve the lives of children and families in our communities,” said Gregory.

Board President Scott Myers shared, “The Board of Directors understands the critical work performed by KidsFirst and knew it was essential to conduct an extensive search for our new CEO. We are pleased to welcome Lynda to the KidsFirst Team and look forward to introducing her to our generous donors and community partners. Please join us on April 30th for the 12th Annual “Putting KidsFirst” Awards Luncheon to meet this year’s Award Winners and our new CEO!” Scott emphasized, “Our Executive Officers and entire Board are grateful to Tilisa May, Interim Executive Director, for her excellent performance in guiding KidsFirst during this leadership transition.”

KidsFirst is unique among non-profits because we seek out innovative programs and services and invest only in those that we know work, such as parent coaching and in-home visits. Ninety-six percent of families referred to KidsFirst from Child Protective Services stayed out of the foster care system, not only saving lives, but millions of dollars of taxpayer money each year. Research demonstrates that for every dollar invested in prevention services, taxpayers save four dollars in remediation.

Since 1989, KidsFirst has helped protect more than 50,000 kids in our communities from abuse, but thousands more remain at risk. Demand for KidsFirst services continually outpaces available resources.

KidsFirst’s parent coaching, family counseling, emergency assistance, and children’s health insurance enrollment programs provide families solutions to real-life challenges that achieve lasting results. Protect a child with your gift: www.endchildabusenow.org.
